“Love” by Katie Barnes

*Note from the Moderator: As you likely well know by now, we here at the BSU believe our students have been given a variety of spiritual gifts and encourage our students to utilize them.  With that in mind, please enjoy our latest post–a poem by our very own Katie Barnes.

Love

It is patient

It is kind

It does not envy

It does not boast

It is not proud

And does not dishonor others

It is not self-seeking

It is not easily angered

It keeps no record of wrongs

It does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth

It always protects

It always trusts

It always hopes

It always perseveres

It never fails

It is the greatest of these

It is grace

It is freedom

It is rest

It is comfort

It is forgiveness

It is incorruptible

It is truth

It is promises that can never be broken

It is purpose

It is fighting for us

It is justice

It is mercy

It is strong and courageous

It is abounding

It is sincere

It is a fruit of the spirit

It is loyalty

It is healing

It does no harm

It is a shield

It is sustenance

It is perfect

It is flawless

It endures forever

It is everlasting

It cannot be added to or taken away from

It is holy, holy, holy

It is for us to remain in

It is a God who says, “Be still and know”

It is a God who says, “Let there be light”

It is a God who says, “Nothing is impossible with me”

A God who represents it

Who will never leave us or forsake us

It is creating us in His image

It is the same yesterday, today, and forever

It is joy coming in the morning

It is letting nothing separate us from it

It is going a little further

It is salt and it is light

It is a burning bush

It is an ark in a flood

It parts the red sea

It is with us when we walk through fire

It is a manger

It is a virgin

It is all the power of God combined with all the pressure of man

It is a carpenter

It is an angel

It is wise men and a star

It is a sacrifice

It is a transformation

It is a salvation

It is a body hanging on a cross

Blood and tears shed

Beaten and broken for us

It is for the evil and the good

For our neighbor and our enemies

It is for Peter

Andrew

James

John

Phillip

Bartholomew

Matthew

Thomas

James

Simon

Judas, son of James

It is for Judas Iscariot

And it is for you and me

It is for everyone

It is food for the 5000 and the 4000 and us

It is Song of Solomon

It is Genesis

It is Revelation

It has overcome the world

It is a Commision

It is a Commandment

It is our greatest calling

It is for such a time as this

And it is coming back for us

It is coming back for us soon

It is patient

It is kind

It does not envy

It does not boast

It is not proud

And does not dishonor others

It is not self-seeking

It is not easily angered

It keeps no record of wrongs

It does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth

It always protects

It always trusts

It always hopes

It always perseveres

It never fails

It is the greatest of these
